About the network

The final meeting of the Network on Combating School Bullying and Violence was held in Dublin Nov. 11-12, 2008. The OECD has decided not to support the SBV Network after Dec. 31, 2008. The network will be exploring other options. 

The website will be closed down April 1, 2009.

The purpose of this website has been to disseminate information and to organize communication between countries on important issues within the area of school bullying and violence. The ambition was that this site should gain reputation as a main reference on policy, practice and research for national and local authorities, schools as well as researchers.

Delayed Injury Resulting from Bullying in School

Sandra Val Flatten has gone through cases about school bullying from the Norwegian court system. She discovered that none of the claimants (victim of bullying) has  succeeded in a claim for compensation against the local authority school where the basis for the claim is delayed injury as a result of bullying during school hours.

National Policy - Slovak Republic

Legal System 

In Slovakia general legal framework for development of prevention of violence and bullying in school provide: The Constitution of the Slovak Republic, the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, the Child Protection Act and the present legislation. In general they promote equality and prohibit all types of discrimination and recognize the rights of citizens and the obligations of the state with regard to education. According to the Child Protection Act every child has the right to an education, which develops the child's mental and physical abilities and forms a healthy personality.
